‘Confectum’ - Latin for 'worn out' - tells a personal tale. When I was still a little girl, I spent many summers with my family in and about my grandpa’s boathouse. That boathouse and its surroundings form the lasting memory of my grandpa. I loved being able to plunge into the big ‘swimming pool’ in the front garden, whenever I wanted. The trips in his motorboat, named P.A.D.W.A (‘Pa Achter De Wedstrijden Aan’; “Dad in pursuit of the sailing races”). Eating ice-cream in the pub ‘Le Sicht’, which unfortunately always required a walk under the trees with the scary eyes. Confectum is my way to keep hold of those treasured but fragile memories. The boathouse is still in my family’s possession.
